Nutcracker Auditions

Students ages 8 and up (minimum with one-year dance experience) from ALL area dance schools. There are roles for students who dance on pointe including advanced dancers; please wear your pointe shoes to audition for these roles.  Female dancers’ heights should be in the range of 4’0” to 5’10”. Male dancers’ heights should be in the range of 4’2” to 6’0”. Students must continue to take dance classes during the semester.

Performances by the City Ballet of Cleveland, directed by Courtney Laves-Mearini, former dancer with Cleveland Ballet, Atlanta Ballet and others. Ballet Master is Mark Otloski, former principal with the Cleveland Ballet.

Performances are scheduled for Saturday, December 2 & Sunday, December 3 at Breen Center for Performing Arts, with a closed dress rehearsal Friday, December 1 for Act I and Act II. Additional festival performances may be available during the season.

Rehearsals will take place at Cleveland City Dance Studios from September through November on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays depending on roles.

The Uniquely Cleveland Nutcracker presented by City Ballet of Cleveland (CBC)

PARKING: There is free parking at studio’s rear entrance off Drexmore Rd, behind the movie theater.

AUDITION FEE: audition fee is $25 [non-refundable] due Thursday 9/12/19 with the audition form. Thereafter it is $40 [non-refundable]. Audition forms available in studio and City Ballet of Cleveland

WHO CAN AUDITION?
Students aged 7+ (Beginning Ballet level or with a minimum of 1yr dance experience) from ALL area dance schools and intermediate through advanced level dancers who are en pointe. Please wear pointe shoes to audition for roles en pointe. Students must continue to take ballet and/or other dance classes during the rehearsal season.

Please examine whether you can commit to the performance dates and your individual rehearsal time(s) before you audition and except a role.

Rehearsals:
will take place every week at Cleveland City Dance(CCD) starting Thursday, September 19 through Friday, December 13 which is a full-dress rehearsal on stage at The Breen beginning at 5:30 pm.

CITY BALLET OF CLEVELAND’S THE UNIQUELY CLEVELAND NUTCRACKER WITH LOCAL PROFESSIONAL DANCERS

City Ballet of Cleveland is presenting its annual holiday classic, The Uniquely Cleveland Nutcracker, Saturday, December 14 at 7:00 pm and Sunday, December 15 at 2:00 pm at the Breen Center for Performing Arts. Directed by Courtney Laves-Mearini, this year’s local guest artists include Daniel Cho, Emily Dietz, Lieneke Matte, Mariana Perez, Benjamin Shephard, and Sabatino Verlezza. Join City Ballet of Cleveland as we whisk you away to the magical world of a young girl’s dreams. These performances are sure to delight audience members of all ages.

Advance tickets for this holiday classic are $10 for children under 18, $20 for seniors, and $30 for adults.

At the door, tickets are $15, $25 and $35, respectively.

In recent years, City Ballet of Cleveland established its Boutique with carefully selected items for the dancer in your life. This year, we are doing things differently. Patrons have the option to schedule a private time to shop at Cleveland City Dance, or they can shop online and pick up at the dance studio, conveniently located in Shaker Square.

NUTCRACKER AUDITIONS
