Online tickets go on sale on October 1 and are available through 7 pm, Friday, November 15th.  Advance ticket price available through midnight, Monday, November 11th.  Seating is assigned from the center of the ballroom to the perimeter, with all online purchases guaranteed seating. Parties wishing to be seated at the same table should buy tickets under one name.

The Uniquely Cleveland Nutcracker presented by City Ballet of Cleveland (CBC)

PARKING: There is free parking at studio’s rear entrance off Drexmore Rd, behind the movie theater.

AUDITION FEE: audition fee is $25 [non-refundable] due Thursday 9/12/19 with the audition form. Thereafter it is $40 [non-refundable]. Audition forms available in studio and City Ballet of Cleveland

WHO CAN AUDITION?
Students aged 7+ (Beginning Ballet level or with a minimum of 1yr dance experience) from ALL area dance schools and intermediate through advanced level dancers who are en pointe. Please wear pointe shoes to audition for roles en pointe. Students must continue to take ballet and/or other dance classes during the rehearsal season.

Please examine whether you can commit to the performance dates and your individual rehearsal time(s) before you audition and except a role.

Rehearsals:
will take place every week at Cleveland City Dance(CCD) starting Thursday, September 19 through Friday, December 13 which is a full-dress rehearsal on stage at The Breen beginning at 5:30 pm.

City Ballet of Cleveland is presenting its annual holiday classic, The Uniquely Cleveland Nutcracker, Saturday, December 14 at 7:00 pm and Sunday, December 15 at 2:00 pm at the Breen Center for Performing Arts. Directed by Courtney Laves-Mearini, this year’s local guest artists include Daniel Cho, Emily Dietz, Lieneke Matte, Mariana Perez, Benjamin Shephard, and Sabatino Verlezza. Join City Ballet of Cleveland as we whisk you away to the magical world of a young girl’s dreams. These performances are sure to delight audience members of all ages.

Advance tickets for this holiday classic are $10 for children under 18, $20 for seniors, and $30 for adults.

At the door, tickets are $15, $25 and $35, respectively.

Support City Ballet of Cleveland as they perform at the I-X Christmas connection. Experience the magic of the season at this annual holiday event. Get a sneak peek of excerpts from the Uniquely Cleveland Nutcracker while enjoying hand-crafted retailers, specialty boutiques, and Christmas decor. Held at the IX Center, Christmas Connection gives you the chance to shop for holiday gifts while supporting local companies. We perform at 11 am and will be presenting many of the lands from Act II along with the Sugarplum Fairy.

City Ballet of Cleveland 2020/21 Company Auditions are now VIRTUAL!

The City Ballet of Cleveland (CBC) audition is open to all serious dancers of ballet ages 10-21. The company has two annual performances in May and December, as well as performances at All Ohio Dance Festival, local schools and more. Applications are available at the Company bulletin board and online at www.cityballetofcleveland.org under Company information. 

Potential dancers do not have to be students at Cleveland City Dance. All dancers must be a minimum of 10 years old by September 2020; be currently taking ballet classes and jazz.  

Notice of nondiscriminatory policy; The City Ballet of Cleveland does not discriminate based on race, color, national and ethnic origin, ancestry or nationality in its admissions policies, scholarship programs or any other company activities administered.

If you do not take ballet classes at Cleveland City Dance and make it into the Company, you would need your current dance school to sign off monthly to confirm you are taking the required dance training necessary to be a member with City Ballet of Cleveland.

Parents’ Meet and Greet with Director during the summer to be determined.

 

All potential Company members must audition in the spring prior to the upcoming season.

This includes all current Company members.

Applications arriving thereafter will be assessed an additional $10.

 

In lieu of an in-person audition for 2020, dancers should submit a private YouTube audition. The audition requirements are:

A 15-20-minute demonstration of barre and center technique. The barre technique should include pliés, battement tendus, battement jété, ronde de jambe, passé, développé en croix, grands battements and balances on one leg. The center technique should include adagio, pirouettes, petite allegro and grande allegro. (For female dancers on pointe include relevés in first, sous sus, éschappés and retiré balance)

This is to show your technical abilities along with performing presence.

SPRING REPERTOIRE CONCERT 2020—CANCELED

Sadly, our spring repertory performance has been canceled. Because we love, we will stay at home.

City Ballet of Cleveland presents its annual spring repertoire concert on Friday, May 15, 2020, at the Breen Center for Performing Arts. This diverse and entertaining program features the classical ballet Swan Lake (Acts II and III), a children’s favorite Peter and the Wolf, and a mixed repertoire. Alumna Diana Yohe and her husband Joseph Parr, both from Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, return to guest with the company as the swan and prince in Swan Lake. 

Presale tickets are $10 for children/students, $20 for seniors and $30 for adults. Tickets are available online until 6:00 pm on Thursday, May 14, 2020.

Tickets at the door are $15, $25 and $35, respectively.

City Ballet of Cleveland presents its annual holiday classic, The Uniquely Cleveland Nutcracker on Saturday, December 19, 2020. In an effort to keep everyone safe, we will be live-streaming this performance so that we can still share this rich tradition with our families, friends, and donors! Directed by Courtney Laves-Mearini, this year’s guest artists are Diana Yohe-Parr [company alumni] and Joseph Parr in the roles of the Snow Queen & King. Guest narrator, Grandmother, is our multitalented board treasurer, Evelyn DeLiso. Join us for a holiday favorite with a uniquely Cleveland twist! Now in its 8th year, City Ballet of Cleveland’s Uniquely Cleveland Nutcracker is an experience like no other.

Each “ticket” will allow a single IP address (household network) access to view the performance. If you are watching in multiple locations, you will need to purchase additional tickets. Cleveland City Dance will send you an email with a link for viewing the Virtual Performance when it is available.

The company is thrilled to be able to offer this performance for a limited live audience. City Ballet of Cleveland will also be live-streaming the event for the general public.

Watch-at-home tickets for the performance are $25.

There is a processing fee of $2.50 per ticket.

If unable to attend the audition, one may submit a virtual audition on a private YouTube channel in lieu of an in-person audition. The audition requirements are:

1. A 15-20-minute demonstration of barre and center technique.
2. The barre technique should include pliés, battement tendus, battement jété, ronde de jambe, passé, développé en croix, grands battements and balances on one leg.
3. The center technique should include adagio, pirouettes, petite allegro, and grande allegro. (For female dancers on pointe include relevés in first, sous sus, éschappés and retiré balance)
4. A classical variation one to two minutes in length. (On pointe for advanced ladies) This is to show your technical abilities along with performing presence.
