Nutcracker Audition

City Ballet of Cleveland is holding its annual Uniquely Cleveland Nutcracker audition on Sunday, September 15th, from 12:30 to 4:30 pm. The audition is open to all area ballet dancers ages seven and older with at least one year of ballet experience. Dancers auditioning for pointe roles, including Act I Snow and Act II Waltz of the Flowers, should wear their pointe shoes to audition. Potential dancers do not need to be students at Cleveland City Dance; however, students must be enrolled in class at their current studio or Cleveland City Dance during the rehearsal process.

The 2024 Uniquely Cleveland Nutcracker performances are scheduled for December 14th at 1:00 pm and 7:00 pm at the Lakewood Civic Auditorium.

A pre-registration form and $25 audition fee should be submitted by Thursday, September 12th.

The Sugarplum Fairy Tea

“While visions of sugarplums danced in their heads.” The holiday season will soon be here, and what better way to celebrate the start of this magical time than with City Ballet of Cleveland’s Sugarplum Fairy Tea?

City Ballet of Cleveland is delighted to offer the tenth annual Sugarplum Fairy Tea on Sunday, November 10th, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. This magical benefit supports the upcoming Uniquely Cleveland Nutcracker performances and annual outreach presentations.

Enjoy a charming afternoon of delicious delights and endearing performances, including an appearance from the Sugarplum Fairy and her friends in the Grand Ballroom of the Shaker Heights Country Club.  Celebrate the start of the holiday season with all the excitement you have come to expect from City Ballet of Cleveland’s Sugarplum Fairy Tea. Children will enjoy arts & crafts and movement experiences. At the same time, adults can start the holiday shopping a little early and enter for the opportunity to win an exciting raffle basket.

Tickets are $45 for adults and $30 for children and may be purchased online until November 3, 2024.

Tickets increase by $5 after November 3 or at the door.

We recommend purchasing tickets early as this event has sold out in previous years.

City Ballet of Cleveland presents its annual holiday classic, The Uniquely Cleveland Nutcracker, at the Lakewood Civic Auditorium on Saturday, December 14. Now in its 12th year, City Ballet of Cleveland’s Uniquely Cleveland Nutcracker is an experience like no other.

When the curtain opens, audience members are transported to the beautiful home of one of Cleveland’s most notable families, the Halle Family. As the holiday party continues, children and adults will delight in the joy portrayed on stage. Once all the guests have departed for the evening, the real excitement begins. Who will win tonight’s baseball game: the Mouse Queen and her army or the Nutcracker and his baseball team? Follow young Katherine on a journey to the lands of her dreams in this uniquely Cleveland twist of a holiday classic.

Tickets are available until Friday, December 13, 2024.

Advanced tickets are $42 for adults and $35 for children and seniors. At the door, tickets increase to $50 and $40, respectively.
