City Ballet of Cleveland is holding its annual Uniquely Cleveland Nutcracker audition on Sunday, September 14th from 12:30 pm–4:30 pm. The audition is open to all area dancers ages 7 and older, with at least one year of ballet, jazz, tap or hip-hop experience.
This year, the performance will feature a reimagined Act I where audience members will have a glimpse of Katherine Halle’s Winter Wonderland, a special look at what happens after her family’s party and before the baseball battle between the Mouse King and the Nutcracker. The new Act I will feature tap, jazz, hip-hop, and contemporary dances; dancers with experience in those genres are encouraged to audition! Dancers auditioning for pointe roles, including Act I Snow and Act II Waltz of the Flowers, should wear their pointe shoes to audition. Potential dancers do not need to be students at Cleveland City Dance; however, students must be enrolled in class at their current studio or Cleveland City Dance during the rehearsal process.
The 2025 Uniquely Cleveland Nutcracker performances are scheduled for December 13th at 1:00 pm and 7:00 pm at the Lakewood Civic Auditorium. A pre-registration form and $30 audition fee should be submitted online by Thursday, September 11th. Application forms and full details are available via the website, www.cityballetofcleveland.org. For questions and additional information, please email info@cityballetofcleveland.org.
There is free parking at the studio’s rear entrance off Drexmore Rd, behind the movie theater.
